    When stem cells from bone marrow were injected into the eyes of mice, they became apart of the blood vessels developing in the retina. Possibly this process may be used to stop blindness in humans who are diabetic and elderly.

    Scientists in the UK say that stem cells in the blood of a fetus may be used to treat genetic disorders in that fetus while the baby is yet in the womb.

    Scientists Grow Mice Eggs from Unborn Mice Outside the Body
    --
    Scientists in Japan have taken eggs from immature mice, grown them in a lab, transferred the genetic material to adult eggs, and then fertilized these eggs to produce more mice. Scientist hope that this technique will some day help girls who have had cancer have children of their own.

    UK: Couple Denied 'Designer Baby'

    A UK couple, wanting to have a child who would be a perfect tissue match to provide bone marrow for their oldest child, was denied their request for a designer baby. The couple and their doctor threaten to come the US where the procedure is allowed.

    eputy Prime Minister John Anderson has taken a different stance from Prime Minister John Howard on the use of excess embryos for research causing a huge debate to break out. Anderson stated that by devaluing one life was leading towards a utilitarian society.
